it's probably because it generates the meshes while the npc is alive but when you kill them/gib them while the meshes are still developing then the game will freeze for a little bit to complete doing so

I have the same problem. It doesn't seem to matter how long I wait for the mesh to generate, every NPC death creates a massive lag spike.

This is an unfortunate side-effect from the gibs due to gmod lacking a certain physics related function. If/when it gets added to gmod in the future I will update this to use it and the lag spikes should disappear but for now you can try lowering gs2_gib_factor or set it to 0 to turn the gibs off completely.

ohhh alright thanks for the reply apart from the lag spikes this is probably one of the best gore mods out there

I pushed an update that makes the gibs use less accurate physics model by default (the more detailed one can still be re-enabled with gs2_gib_expensive command) so these spikes shpuld be reduced.

Is this update working for anyone else? It doesn't seem to make a difference for me.
