to answer your question, im afraid i havent really used that side of the mods functionality myself, bet i can suggest is looking at the 'vehicles' in WalkingProblems Trading economy mod and reverse engineering the changes, something to make note of though is that one of the changes i made to the framework since then was removing it from vanillas namespace, meaning that you will need to put
AnimalWeapons before any classes that come from the AnimalWeapons.dll
AnimalVehicle before any classes that come from the AnimalVehicle.dll
