How does the AI work & Suggestions
First of all, awesome mod and thanks again for the effort!




I wanted to open this discussion to give the Devs a platfrom to elaborate on how exactly the AI works, for those who are interested and want a little more detail on some things. (are there actual AI controlled engineers running around, collecting resources, building things and welding them etc.)

Here are some of the questions I had, feel free to add to the list if anyone has more!

1. I was wondering if the AI extends into space, i.E. does it send spaceships from a Planet to outter space, building Space Stations and so on. If it does use spaceships, will it actively seek to expand its territory, disregarding Player-built structures? How far will the AI expand its territory?

2. Is there/will there be a way to trade with the many Factions?
(At least with those who are not outright aggressive)
If so, will it be through Trade stations like the vanilla trading posts?

3. Will the Factions declare wars on each other, assaulting each other?

Some of these questions were already answered, but I thought it would make sense to create an area where the Devs can update us on how the AI works in detail, and as to not clutter the comment section/description too much with it.

I don't know how I missed this thread and I'm really sorry about that! Here are the answers to your questions:

1. They do expand into space but they're not really territorial. At the moment, the AI builds near the last grid it build and just keeps expanding from there. This is subject to change in the future but that's how it works currently.

2. Yes, in fact 3 factions already have trading capabilities (ARC,HVS, and STAR). I'm not 100% what more I would add on my mod's end since Keen will sometimes spawn outposts for the factions automatically but I would love to have this be more in-depth.

3. Aggressive factions declare war on everyone but I am using the default Keen AI for the drones which only targets players. The factions can attack one another but the AI will (currently) only go after players.

Sorry again that I missed this and I've subscribed to this discussion. Not sure why steam didn't tell me in the first place or maybe I missed it.
