Give the liege the power to join in internal wars, no matter what. The King has the authority to back another vassal if he is fighting a rebellion. For example if I gave my brother some lands and his vassals rebel against him, I as the King should have the authority to join in,
Same for the other way around, if some counts revolt against a duke the king should have the authority to join on their side in order to dispose the duke.
TLDR Give the King more authority in internal wars.
But this could also make it way more difficult. If you attack a fellow vassal that has good relations with your liege and your liege dislikes you, your liege might join against you.
Thank you for the suggestion. At the same time, this would vastly expand the power of the ruler, and would be very ahistorical. William the Bastard was effectively in revolt against the french king, so I'm not sure how this example would apply?
This mod is about difficulty and roleplay, you are meant to be challenged by the mechanics in a realistic way, not have to limit yourself for roleplay reasons. Also the player is rarely a vassal for long, and that isn't where the balance is most needed, as that is fairly difficult already.
Which historical examples are you thinking of?
Also, again, a vassal is already looking uphill, the difficulty is pretty decent for vassals. A liege is already strong, and this would make a liege stronger. So that's making the game harder for the harder situation, and easier for the easier situation.
Oh and maybe terrain traits should give more advantage? I dont remember ever looking up for them specifically, but maybe im just lazy
In my experience the AI is not good with supply and making it more of a challenge for them would probably just mean they take more attrition losses. I like the 'Some Game Rules' mod to give the AI an expanded supply instead. That way they can chase their own tail for a bit longer without instantly destroying their army.
From anecdotal evidence that gives them more time to "snap out of it" and decide on a target. Anyway that mod can both increase and reduce supply limit, duration, attrition losses etc for the AI and player independently.
Although if you change supply limits for counties obviously both the player and AI will be affected.
It's not updated at the time I write this so I don't know if it's currently working on this patch.
