Bug = Just standing still
So the mods works to a certain point, I'm able to talk to the dismissed character but when training starts the dismissed character just stands idle even when taking hits, but rejoins after the agreed time. Has anyone else had this issue?

Also I would just comment but I can't comment on steam since I have the game on GoG, so I'm just left with creating a discussion.

What, I think it conflicts with a mod that allows me to be allied with the tech hunters:steamfacepalm:

They should still fight back even if they are friendly, one of the things i tried first was to make 2 friendly units fight but no damage or xp happens so they just smack each other pointlessly forever.

But my mod breaks pretty easily with other mods that change things.

what mod was it again? can it work with other scenario? or just uninstall the mod?

It was the Ally the Tech Hunters mod by Fitzkrieg. I don't know what you mean by "can it work with other scenario?", but I didn't have to uninstall it. I made it work by just buying animals from Nomads, then squad kicking the animals thus making them apart of the Tech Hunters, and then attacking and quickly killing them. Lowering rep with the Tech boys I'm guessing below 50, enough to make sparring possible.

Being allied to tech hunters still breaks this mod. I bought all the towns for sale in Black Scratch (I think this is part of the UWE mod?) and it caused me to be allied with them and ever since then none of my sparring sessions work. They just stand there and no one gains xp.

I'll try what Slimetus said he did and see if that fixes it.

When a character is dismissed it is hard-coded to go to Tech Hunters and there's no way to change a characters faction otherwise i would just make a sparing faction.
Just use the reputation + - to make them neutral then go back to allied if you need to.

Is there a way to make it so that they become drifters or some other loose or obscure faction so as to not create this discrepancy? I'm sure that would solve a couple of these issues

Dismissed faction is Hard coded to Tech Hunters which is really annoying but there's nothing i can do.
