Water Mod

water specifc thrusters (propellers)
As cool as it is to use normal thrusters on "boats and submarines" it bothers me that if you have enough thrust to go fast, then you also have more than enough thrust to fly.

what i propose is adding in a new thruster type to the base mod that is a propellers that specifically only work under water, with a fairly high thrust output with a low power requirement.

I've 3d modeled some rough prototypes as examples. Anyone else wants to make an independent mod with them, ask me about it. Also If someone wants to use them then I will add more polish and finish them

So, I had an idea, and yall can take it or leave it.

You could also make it so that collectors in water when they generate ice also apply a pulling force, and then connectors in water on throw out would consume ice, and apply a pushing force.

That way players could make water jets.

I like both the propeller concept and also the collector water jet concept too. I'd love to use both (I have several worlds going) when available.

@GoofySphinx5
well, neither idea will be available if Jakarria doesn't read this, and if more people don't express interest.

I believe Jakarria provided the API, but doesnt plan to add blocks into the mod itself, to avoid major breakages with Game updates/ abandoned projects etc. Other people have been encouraged to make blocks for it etc, and I'm hoping to see them popping up in the near future.

This would be a step in the right direction for space engineers, but remember, this isn't meant to be an battleship game, you are meant to go to space and survive, not build battleships and duke it out, but now that I think about it, it would be cool to have a space engineers D-Day, just a thought.

@Mr_Bear That being said it is nice/cool to be able to have ships like White Base from Mobile Suit Gundam and the Yamoto from Space Battehip Yamoto/Star Blazers that are space ships but can land and cruise on the surface of water. Plus if you are not trying to get somewhere in a hurry not using your bottom thrusters to stay in the air would be more fuel efficient.

water jet would be a problem because collectors work for the ballast, if when geting ballast it pushes you it would make submarines unstable

That's what the "water mod plus stuff" does natively, use that one instead maybe

You might be able use a 3d model for propellers over the ejectors so they eject the ice but look like a propeller

would be cool if there was a way to toggle the atmo thrusters to not work in water.
