Well I've already responded to your comment in the main comments section (You didn't need to make a discussion as well!) but I'll repost what I said there anyway, for anyone else who failed to read the description:

You should buy at least either Half-Life 2: Episode 1 or Half-Life 2: Episode 2, install it/them, and then mount it/them in Gmod by going to the main menu, clicking on the game controller icon in the bottom right corner, ticking the relevant games' boxes, and then restarting.
