you should make a second item for this. it would catch the lightning and spit it upwards. sorta like how the ender dragon regens. i just thought it would look coool. also maybe colorable lightning.

for colorable lightning it will be very hard, it's a sprite... if I do this, I need to make new colored sprites.

maybe you could make it so you could somehow charge up shots for more damage
