been trying to figure this out for a while now, there's no option to feed, even with it in the inventory

If it's the raw essence you got from killing an Enraged (looks like an oil-slick coloured rock), you can't feed that. Use three of these to charge the Shiny prod, then use the Shiny prod on a wild Shiny with extra-special abilities. If you can then manage to kill it within 60 seconds, you will get the essence of that dino's abilities-- it looks like a little pile of rainbow dust. This is the thing you will be able to feed to a dino of the same class.

@Strangechilde What do you mean by "class" and how is this beneficial? Why would I not just tame THAT dino? Could you elaborate on where the positive side is cus I think Im missing something. If there is a better explanation somewhere else, could you please guide me to that?

The advantage is that you can apply it to your favorite dino that you already own, perhaps a bred one, or just a favorite you've had for a long time.

You can still just tame them if you want. :)

And "class" means the same type of dino. If you extract something from a Stego, then you can only apply it to another Stego.

If you give Shiny special abilities to a dino you've bred and imprinted, you will get the best of both worlds--- your imprint benefits, plus, if you've put work into your breeding, a nice ability for an already strong dino. Another neat thing is you can now potentially have Shiny special abilities on dinos you can't tame, but have to steal the eggs and raise the babies.

Just to be sure that I got it right.
Let's say I've got a bred Rex and it's now lvl 500.
1) What happens, if I hunt a "Rainbow Rex Essence" and feed it to my Rex? Probably nothing, because it's just a colour. Will the colour of my Rex change?
2) What happens, if I hunt a "Hefty Rainbow Rex Essence" and feed it to my Rex? Will it get now additional stats in Health?
3) What happens, if I hunt a "Burning Rex Essence" and feed it to my Rex? Will it burn from now on?

1) Yes, that's right. Plain colours won't work. 2) No, the stat boost abilities just add points to the wild dino when it is chosen for Shinification. It's not a special ability. 3) Yes! Your beautiful level 500 Rex can now be ON FIRE!!!!!

Thank you!
Just curious, how do I get the raw shiny essence in the first place?
strangechilde  [dezvoltator] 14 sept. 2020 la 8:13
Kill Enraged shinies.
Right I read that and my brain just must have said "Nope" and chucked it out.. Sorry about that and thank you so much for your help.~ :)

After applying the special shiny essence (burning, frozen, ect.) on regular dino, can i cryopot it without loosing this effect? Or will be lost the applied shiny effect after cryopoting it? @strangechilde

It will still be lost if you cryopod it or upload it to to an obelisk, yes. The special Shiny abilities are persistent buffs, and cryopods and obelisk uploads don't retain that information. Dino Storage 2's soul traps do, which is why we recommend using Dino Storage with Shiny. I'd recommend Dino Storage anyway even without Shiny. It's flat out a brilliant mod. @lun-A

I have bred some raptors and am trying to feed them shiny essence taken from special raptors but when i put them in the inventory the consume option is greyed out. What am i doing wrong here? Also i noticed i can breed shiny Pteranadons but not my shiny raptors not sure what to do here lol. Edit......ok i tried to feed the essence to a normal tame and it still has not option for consume.
