Yes, you can use Shiny in Single Player. However please keep reading to make your experience just so much better!

Single Player in ARK uses something called Hibernation, which basically unloads any Dino you are not currently seeing around you. When this happens, a Shiny Dino will unfortunately turn back into a normal Dino.

To prevent this from occurring, you can actually start the game without hibernation. To do this, Right-Click ARK in your Steam library, go to Properties, and on the General tab click "Set Launch Options", and in the box that comes up write:

-PreventHibernation

This can result in the game running a bit slower on a slow machine, but it will ensure that Dinos behave much more like they would on an ARK Server - which gives you better dino spawns all around, and Shiny Dinos will actually function!
