simple answer is no, u have to start a new world.
sad story is because of some drama between the developing group and the former advertising person, most of the original fan of this mod in China started to keep cyber-bullying not only the group but also the mod common section.
So the result is: it looks like this mod won't have any new update anymore.
oh btw the main topic those "fan" hated about the group is that they sold some activate code on streaming for activate some skin only for this mod, and after they heard this company of Don't Starve together does not support this action anymore, they all suddenly get orgasm and want to be refunded, so they use that drama I mentioned before to ♥♥♥ whenever they can when they find any place to curse this mod LOL.
Sorry for not really helping ur problem but this is probably the end of this mod , just enjoy while it is still workable with the game.

Do you have any source for this? Would be really ♥♥♥♥♥♥ for such a good quality mod to go to waste. Also its been updated 3 times since your comment so I don't know if what you're saying is really true.

They seemingly have updated the mod a bit, so the devs have not abandoned the game yet. The drama did happen regarding the financial backlash when Klei released the new policy to not take donations for skinned content. In which a lot of the community revolted to the devs to give them their money back for prior paid skins before the policy from Klei enacted.

Though it seems they do stick around to update. I haven't seen MAJOR updates, but there's been some new items and such here and there.
