Currently it checks that the hediff is:
- not permanent
- not chronic
- not a missing part
- does not cause a Need (e.g. drug addictions)
- is not an implant
If it fulfills the above condition it will be removed.
So it seems like the psycast hediffs are removed as well since they are none of the above (I guess it is coded to be non-permanent?). It will take some time for me to identify what makes a psycast hediff (if you know someone who knows that'd be great).
But in any case I can't work on this at the moment so you will have to live with it for now. :(
I know it's painful to lose progress due to a bug but you can headcanon it as being experimented on by enemy raiders. Rimworld is a story generator after all
And also you have to treat kidnapping as a serious threat now (and not a short holiday for the pawn).
ALSO:
Kidnapping will NOT bring a pawn back via Reunion quests but I guess you already know that since you modify them with the traits as they are getting kidnapped. If you don't already know that, now you do. You can let them get kidnapped and there is a high chance they will contact you again to rescue them (this is part of the vanilla game so I suppose you will get them back without bugs caused by Reunion). There is also a low chance that they are gone forever so there is that... If you use "optimization" mods that clean up "unused" pawns, there is a high chance of losing them, so be careful of that.
