The reason for most crashes can be found inside the crash log file. Those files can be found in the following folder:
C:\Users\[YourUsername]\Documents\My Games\Binding of Isaac Repentance\

The crash files are ".txt" files that follow the pattern: "isaacv[VERSION]-[CRASH_DATE]-[CRASH-TIME]-[NUMBERS]-[NUMBERS].txt".
Example: "isaacv1.7.9b.J835-20230119-174342-25560-10688.txt"

Please send the most recent crash log file.


Here are other steps you can try to fix crashes:
- verify integrity of game files:
1. Open your Game Library on Steam.
2. Right-click on your game.
3. Select Properties from the menu.
4. In the Properties menu, select 'Local Files' from the left-hand panel.
5. On the Local Files page, select 'Verify integrity of game files'
6. Steam will then verify your files and reinstall any files that might be broken or corrupt

- Try to deactivate all other mods, except minimapi, and see if the crash still occurs. if not, the crash is caused by another mod

already verified the files and the problem is not really crushing, its that the game application becomes unresponsive and a message pops saying isaac.exe stops responding

Here's mine, I haven't played for a couple of months and figured I'd first look into the mod that had 'MINI MAP API IS CAUSING ERRORS' flashing at the top right before the crash.

I haven't gone through the steps of disabling any mods or other trouble shooting yet.

Turns out in my case, my Repentogon was out of date, and I had accidentally disabled auto-updates
