Actually what first inspired this was Jon Hamm's character he played in "Bad Times at the El Royale"... He played as a vacuum Salesman wearing the most wonderfully awful plaid suit coat in that movie. :)

Man, I hope this gets into the game. I knew it looked like a salesman's outfit, but that damned suit reminded me a bit too much of a certain fink to be coincidence.

I thought this was a Death of a Salesman reference at first.

I had like 4 major inspirations for this jacket. Jon Hamm in "Bad Times at the El Royale"... Then Benny from "Fall Out New Vegas" ... Then the Stanley the used ship salesman in "Monkey Island". And Gil from "The Simpsons"...

But yeah my first concept of this jacket had more of a checkers Plaid similar to Benny... But I felt this was too... Bold for TF2's aesthetic... So a simpler plaid was employed...

My thoughts were that this would make Spy look like a used car salesman or a door to door salesman... And he's deadly... So Death Dealer... But hey I like unintentionally referencing "Death of a Salesman"... It definetly fits. :)
