I'm curious just what's going on here. Considering Splitsie has a channel to show progress, perhaps we should start sharing save-games, too?
Screenshots, maps and strategies?..
However I have now discovered the boulders are sometimes changing between loads so I need to check the cleanup settings mentioned.
Even now with my new lake location plenty of iron, cobalt, silicone, nickel boulders but even after driving 10km out I'm yet to find Mg. My bad luck is becoming a big issue as I just had my first Sparrow :)
So there seems to be some sort of reloading going on between sessions/saves.
For others that may be running into this, the procedure for checking the voxel clean-up settings - ALT+F10, "Trash removal" in the first drop-down, "Voxels" in the second, the button at the bottom should say "Enable" (meaning it's currently suspended). Not sure what "Submit changes" does in a single-player, offline game.
But in your case, I can only guess there's some corruption with the asteroid objects in the save, but chances of that seem slim. JIC, these are stored separately, with names like "P(planet)S(??)A(G(type)M(area)__num)-uid.vx2".
Boulders however were changing between loads regularly even after being mined so never went back as it was difficult terrain at limits of my thrusters/range.
I've now made it to the moon and solved my ongoing magnesium issues.
Don't think any of these are duplicates....

@privatteer, that's some serious stuff! It should definitely help those who want a quick start. I'll try to remember and check the locations if I'm back at the starting plateau.
@keyspace was your nickel deposit on the plateau or farther away? I'm not airborne yet and I haven't found a way of it with wheels.

But yes it's a pain and has kept happening to me on the moon as well when hunting gold.
I did look through the Omicron XML files; it seems what you're describing is from
So it is no wonder that the ore types change on re-load. If boulder data has not been written to file, then the random type assignment would likely be performed again.
Is there a FIx for this issue because i havent found any Mg, in nearly 8 months of playtime. was thinking most of the time that its just super rare. but now i feel like it doesnt exist in my game. If some one has any suggestions or fixes or tests?
much appreciated.
thanks
Ive been playing the survival impossible for quite some time, im having an issue finding Mg, i find all the base Ores, but the Mg has not popped up in any boulders i have found (quite a few boulders ive been through. Kinda makes life difficult to make ammo etc to defend my creations.
just wondering if its just me having that issue, if its even an "issue" or that Mg is just that hard to find.
thanks
