type in my password, wait a few seconds. Then nothing kicked back to main menu.

I am also had the same problem yesterday, but now its saying "A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of tome, or established connection failed because connect host has failed to respond."

Seems to be a problem with Steam version. Try Github one or restart the Rimworld and connect again(do it with either version, after registering just quit and launch).
