I can get the NPCs to occasionally do what I ask. For example, thus far I haven't had issues having my base barricaded nor getting corpses piled.

But two tasks that I very much want my NPCs to perform are: chop wood and gather wood.

They struggle to perform these two actions. My Timberjack has an axe yet does not go off to find wood to chop. And my hauler simply doesn't haul.

Does anyone have advice on performing these actions?

I will also admit that the who "Base" construct is very confusing and I don't know if I must hose it for these actions (like designating where to chop or haul) or not. The documentation and guidance is quite limited.
