The NPCs keep doing the attack animation but the zombies aren't taking damage the just stop moving
i have no idea what the problem is idk if its a mod i installed i mean i didn't install any corresponding mods

I've been having the exact same issue, it also ruins melee combat with hostile NPC's

did you find the problem ? Like Brutal handwork or something like that ? I've the same problem

Yes, it was the combo between Brutal Handwork and Fancy Handiwork. I disabled them both and now survivors work great!
