how about adventure guild sort like society giving guild points the quest should be unique maybe hunting monster, track assassins or simple works like helping harvest local farmlands or eliminating pesky rodent or sort thus ask boon like redeem guild points and make it into coins?
or using jade dragon mechanics instead of China this is adventurer guild then again need proper trait to give some character grace modifier.

I'm no pro but if you want me to handle some localization I can do that I can do modding tiny bit to alter mod, just suggestion but if we gonna make proper text based rpg we need bigger event incorporated because original event text kinda small.
Yep I understand making mods takes time, if you need help just call over I add you.
like I said I'm no pro but know enough to make my own customization.
Edit:
MERCHANT_REPUBLIC_MAX_PATRICIANS in defines.lua defaults to 5. Try setting it to 1.
This will ofcourse define it for all merchant republics. But it will definetly work for what we want it to be.
