I have a game I've been playing and I wanted to add a character I could find sometime on the world map. I made a new character by starting a new game and editing a pawn and saving it in a slot. Then I loaded my old save I wanted to play on, opened the editor, clicked on a faction in the list to add pawns to. I seem to be able to generate random pawns to the world list, but I seem to only be able to load saved pawns onto my colony. If I click "load pawn" button, it seems to only work if I place the pawn on my current map, adding them to my colony.
Is there a way to add a saved pawn to the world list like how I can generate random new pawns for the world list, or is that not possible?
Thanks for the mod and any possible replies.
Yes. You can select a faction to which you want to add the pawns. If you let them spawn near to map edges, they will most likely go off the map and join the faction. Enemy factions will probably try to attack, before they leave.
You can also select 'Humanoid' instead of a faction, then add pawns. Those pawns will be factionless and will automatically leave the map and join to one of the world factions.
And you can also banish pawns or let them go away because of mental break. Those pawns will also join to one of the other factions.
Saved pawns, will be colonists, after they are loaded.
But you can change the faction of any pawn in the bio tab. Click on the faction symbol.
After I edit a pawn, I must save it to a slot to apply it?
How do you know what slot a selected pawn is?
I want to edit an existing pawn, but I don't know what slot they already occupy.
pawns are saved in the ingame list, when you are on the preparation screen.
so if you edit your pawns with prepare carefully and then close it - prepare carefully reset all your changes back.
if you edit your pawns with character editor - all changes will stay in the ingame list. so you can if you want edit them after that with prepare carefully. (but note prepare carefully doesn't allow any startpawn to wear a weapon)
if you want to transfer your pawns from prepare carefully to character editor. start a game with those pawns, then open character editor and save them to slots.
then you can use your pawns in every savegame you want. plus you will keep your progress done with that pawn if you save them. thats something you can't do with prepare carefully.
that's awesome, i just found that out recently lol (was in a long lasting colony, am guilty of using character editor far too many times, character editor too good to not use).
also, if you load a pawn from CE with multiple gears on, lets say marine's glove and boots from Vanilla expanded armory (i think?) and some other gears, PC won't load them all due to its limitations,
