I think Prepare Carefully is better just because it's been around longer.

This one has been around a while, I thought it died but looks like it just got an update.... I don't know why it looks like a new mod.

I run it alongside prepare carefully, this one works in game and can even edit enemy pawns. Great for changing hairstyle on new recruits.

Character Editor seems to work with other mods better, like Facial Stuff, Aliens etc. Plus as mentioned it works in game, even allowing you to edit animals.

Wow, from someone who has delved into Rimworld modding before, it's so weird talking about mods like they're independent, static products!

Rimworld's source code is open; there's nothing stopping you from reverse engineering any mod.

actually i'm not the fan of reverse engineering, because everybody has its own style to code. and i just don't have the time to read and understand other peoples code. i only search for references when i'm stuck or when external methods have to be called. references are good to understand how it works. the most helpful reference for me was in fact the rimworld source code.
i like edb's mod. but the initial reason why i developed this mod was because i missed the possibility to edit pawns after crashlanding with prepare carefully. if it had that, this mod would probably never been developed.
actually all of my mods that i've done, were because i missed something in the game.

I use a pregnancy mod. This mod helps because it allows me to change all female colonists to the average female body type. Not that I dislike hulking women, it just makes my life easier when I know at a glance who can get pregnant (and needs an IUD), and who can't. A hulking pawn named 'Giggles' doesn't give me any clues as to the pawn's gender.

Especially if they're in power armor

When I do a LOTR /Rimhammer run I use it to turn my new pawns into same race as my colony- Dwarfs, Drow, etc. Great Mod.

This and Prepare carefully is like before and after when editing the pawn setup..
I prefer prepare carefully for not overdoing the superheros lol

I just use both of them together. No conflict.

I'm running a Drow empire right now. I start with 8 Ice mage Drow all Abilities start at 20 but downgrade overtime if they don't use them. Any slave or recruits I get I turn into Drow all abilities at 20. The reason for this is simple. I play at the highest level ironman. It kinda balanes out.

If your like me and can't restrain yourself from using dev mode as an easy out, I would choose Prepare Carefully. It provides an option to enable a point limit, which makes for a custom but balanced starting colony.
If your aim is to make abrupt changes whenever you fudge something up this is mod may be more suitable for that purpose, since you can adjust any stat with no restriction.

I would say that neither mod is a substitution for the other, so you should choose whichever mod better fits your playstyle.

I find Prepare Carefully more user friendly, BUT I also use Character Editor for if I want or need to change something mid-game. So pre-game, Prepare Carefully, mid-game, Character Editor. They don't conflict, that I've seen so far.

Prepare Carefully is more easy quick save & load preset than Character Editor is annoying click added items in capsule every start new games they can't save & load items in capsule when new games.
