There is very little can be done right now, as this issue may require major code changes to resolve. Starting a new campaign may solve it temporarily as this is a somewhat intermittent issue, but realistically it shouldn't have an effect.
When 2.4 is ready there will have been several major changes made, I will note that in our last run of testing the mission was found to be much harder than previously, so I recommend a change of tactic.
Holding things in the early game is very difficult and should therefore tactical retreats should be utilised whenever needed. Better to get the loot and run than die and loose it all.
Collect up your heavy AT and AA equipment until you can confidently fend off the QRFs when they come.
