In my current game as the Crystal Empire I'm currently getting steamrolled.
Changeling Hegemony have better equipment, better commanders, and 2.5:1 division advantage, and still has 250k manpower in the bank.
Equestria's borders just caved in a month, and via that way they're attacking into Evergreen in that dog bend bit given Equestria started the conflict with only 27 divisions and is already down to 22. And admittedly I could probably have squeezed out three extra full strength 20 width divisions of leg infantry, but all in all my army is up there...it's pretty challenging and fun.
Eng., Mot Rec, Spt. AT, Field Hospital, Mage
7 x Infantry, 2 x artillery Love Divisions.
I haven't played HoI in awhile, so I was just playing on regular as well.
Here's a screenshot of the war effort so far ...

I managed to get my way to assail Volistad, but I doubt I'll be able to hold it once taken. Basically my strategy is to try to lengthen their front in comparison to my own and see if I can take a little heat off my picket of divisions protecting my turf.
Also if you're going off of "historical" the changelings are suppose to be the winners if you go off the while pax crap update. I've never seen them win unless I play as them and I don't know why they have a ton of updates for them for post war stuff when by that point it's pretty much over anyways.
I'm sorry, but how are you saying that the changelings are suppose to lose when the mod it's self says that they won? And all the updates have been all for the changelings post war, there is nothing for eqs post war. Once you win it's just over. Yet if you win as the changelings there's a ton to do because of all the updates that focus on just them.
Historically Changelings lose, Equestria gets special A.I. buffs to make that happen. Post war Changelings content has nothing to do with it.
Again what makes you say that? The mod it's self says they won and it has for a very long time. How can a person assume that they lost historically when I come into the mod with it on the front page saying they won for the last year?
For me The changelings have taken over all of Equus by 1013
Under game rules there is a setting that allows you to disable the AI buffs Equestria gets that makes them win the war. Meaning that Equestria is supposed to start losing for the first part of the war but then they are given hidden buffs that give them the advantage to start pushing them back. I don't know what you read and I am not going to say you're wrong but Equestria gets this buff for a reason. If you want to see them lose just disable the buff in the game rule setting and Equestria will have a much harder time in the war.
Playing as Changelings though, it is rather tough to beat Equestria. I haven't been able to do it until near-late game (on Historical at least). That said, if you still know what you're doing and you know how to optimize population and industry using the political decisions, you'll still win pretty much every time, even with Stalliongrad on Equestria's side. I didn't even need to form any protectorates for AI assistance. Just make sure to defend the ports. I've also managed to defeat both resistances as well since they're pretty much no match for a large, post-Great War army.
And to address Pax Chrysalis, it merely is an expansion for late-game changelings. Originally, after The Great War, there really wasn't much left to do other than to conquer the rest of Equus (and possibly the world) through manual justifications. And to be honest, even with the Pax Chrysalis content, there still really isn't much unless you're willing to switch to Manehatten.
All that said, whether it is canon or not is really up for you to decide. The notion of "canon is what you make of it" is probably the best way to look at alt-history/TC mods, even if there is a "historical" route the AIs take.
build 3-4 armies of 20w infantry to hold the line while pushing and encircling the equestrians with your 20 or 40w mediums
