What do you mean before launch? You mean when it was still the modded map? There were never Deinos on the modded map.

i've had an AI Deino pounce on me ONE time, post release, and it's never happened again.
never been able to replicate it, or get a tamed one to perform the pounce either

not too sad about that, the one time i was pounced by a Deino, it applied that damn bleed everytime it bit, so not only was i taking increased damage from the pounce, but i was bleeding out

damn thing bled me from full health (400 on that character) to barely 20 before it let me up

ARK'S deino's can pounce
they do it with specabar
it works diffrently than the raptor
it works by having the dino lacht on anything bigger than them and give them bleed
