I like the wildfires idea, maybe it could be a random event until you do a focus to combat it?

Maybe Japan could get a new focus to subjugate or annex California and other Pacific coastal states?

Japan subjugate or annex it should have a Japanese califorina flag

It can maybe have focus that says "Expand the Mines" so it can expand California's resources and maybe months later after someone chose the focus, California can have a event that says "The Second Gold Rush". Hopefully the design of the focus and National Spirits would be like Kaiserreich, I recommend

Well if you haven't played Update 0.9.2 Aurora Borealis in Kaiserreich as of now, its just like a lot of events leading to chaos or changed ideology or lucky enough, keep the status quo. But also Focus Trees when you look at them in Kaiserreich, are pretty large, but they have nice pictures when you look at the focuses like Switzerland for Example, Link: https://i.imgur.com/d8PZ5J9.jpg

I think california should also have a homeless crisis modifier with like -10 stability and like @OctAmAN said have a focus to remove it. the way I personally would like to see california play is sort of like china in base game where it has a lot of issues that cripple the country but if you play your cards right you can become unstoppable I think there should also be an event chain where you have to navigate through a series of events where you narrowly avoid a civil war between the conservative north and inland territories vs the liberal southern coastal regions I would also recommend naming them the jefferson revolt as that was an actual attempted succession state from california also maybe have it like a spanish civil war thing where jefferson is facist and the south be commies

"Drought"- consumer goods +20%

Focus completion: remove "drought" identity

"divided country"- -20% recruitable population

Focus completion: remove "divided country"

"traffic" - -20% divisions movement speed

Focus completion: replace "traffic" with "California Highways" +5% division movement speed

"wildfires"- -10% defense core territory

Focus completion: replace "wildfires" with "dry seasons" -5% division defense core territory

Focus comepltion (again): replace "dry seasons" with "maintaned forests": +5% division defense core territory

Focus completion (yet again): replace "maintaned forests" with "Protected Landscape" +10% divion defense core territory

You can do alot with california. I know i went reaaaally off track away from focuses but as a cali boy myself i want to my state shine in this mod. These are just some of my ideas, You're doing an amazing job man.

understandable. im already planning on adding custom national spirits on the divsion between hispanics, and the whites.

thank you for the suggestion! More then likely there wont be a focus to join japan, but be able to gain blueprints and such for equipment and maybe creation of japanese elite volunteer divsions.

i do plan on making events and such, but if anything the coastal citites will break apart and become somthing similar to the chinese trade cities like in Kaiserreich.
