This is almost certainly due to moving ground troops directly to another system without first moving them into the space layer.
EX: if you have troops on Coruscant and you want to send them to Byss, they need to be moved from Coruscant ground layer to Coruscant space layer, then to Byss or wherever you are sending them. If you drag them from Coruscant ground layer, to Byss space layer, you probably borked your save accidentally.
This bug is extra insidious because the effect is not triggered right away, but at least a week or two after the mistake, so it's REALLY hard to figure out that this caused it. Hope this helps!
ok how do i avoid the three way battle? i do not know where it goes dow nso i cant preemptively act.
There's not much you can do, other than go to an old save and try and make some aggressive moves which affect the AI. For me, this one is usually a campaign killer, unless you have the resources to make a serious push to change the balance of forces on the galaxy map.
