Factions Strategy Discussion
A lot of balance changes has occurred, obviously, in 4.0 and I wished to open up this little forum for people to talk about the tactics they've developed during GC or Skirmish. While a healthy debate is...well, healthy, proving one strategy over another isn't the point. This is to share in our experimentation of the game in the hopes of enjoying it, sharing, and ultimately developing constructive feedback for the devs. Cheers!

May the Force ever serve you.

For Imperial starting: I don't know why this happens but spamming TPCs and click auto is surprisingly efficient, taking only about 5 of 35 squads to destroy quite an enemy force with t3 colony station. Try this if you are clueless on siege battle.

Faction strategy discussion thread:
First comment: Some guy that thinks ISDs are bad, saying you should just autoresolve.

This is why I never read steam comments after 3.x came out and am considering just not reading them again. You has to wade through such a swamp of ♥♥♥♥ to get to the few good and constructive comments, one has to wonder if it's even worth the effort.

On faction strategy:

For the Rebellion I like to take Celanon/Botajef from the Empire as soon as possible. They are weakly defended and can be taken without much resistance.

Taking Bespin is of course a major objective, then I usually fortify it. Going for the Senex-Juvex Sector is near impossible at the start with the Empire on Endor, CIS coming from Mustafar, and the Warlords spawning near S&J sector.

Kicking the CIS from Muunilist is also good for securing the area around Dantooine. It may start off weak, but if you can get a force going there, you can take quite a few worlds with little opposition.

I may or may not also be cheating by having designed the web way so I may or may not also know these are excellent choices by design :)

Please don' get that personal sir, if you guys really have some tips on how to capital I'm happy to see it coming under ISD post for the help of everyone.
Also I am seriously talking about a way to help players get through early game, as early frigate fleets will really have a hard time confronting enemy space stations since we all know how strong they are. I am not assuming every player can manage their tactical combat very well, and think there should be some way to help people out aside from starting a new game.

They give us a Golan II at Coruscant and a Golan I at Kuat right off the bat. Turn these into fortress worlds while building fighters and frigates at smaller shipyards. Pick a direction and blitzkrieg it immediately. Taking new mining planets is much more profitable than maxing out your average worlds.

Hello fellow Galactic Conquerors! Over the next few months I intend to post a comprehensive breakdown of each faction's main-line warships starting with everyone's favorite totalitarians, the Empire.

I'll be starting with the smallest frigate classes and working up to the capital ships, breaking down their respective strategies according to the most recent update. I will create a skill graph for the visual learners out there, (myself included), in addition to a brief yet detailed summary. Keep in mind this will NOT include SSD's, corvettes, Heroes or specialty vessels e.g. the one with a gravity well. Those can be added per player discretion to provide depth to the strategic battle.

DISCLAIMER: I am NOT A DEV. I do not know coding or technical bugs, nor do I promote one faction against another or prefer one. Should you have errors, bugs, glitches or other issues, please refer to the appropriate support resources provided by the Devs.
Additionally, the observations made for these classes are subjective to my play testing and I am more than happy to be corrected. Adjustments will be made according to the most updated version of the game and therefore subject to change.

With that out of the way, I'll post a preview of the first frigate I'll do in a few days. Cheers!

May the Force ever serve you.

I just found out I can create a guide. I'll be posting the updates there so as to reserve this forum for the strategies as intended. That being said the first frigate is:

the Gladiator

Cheers!

I've completed the Empire list of mainline ships. To view them, please check out the guide link at the top of the discussion board. If I missed any ships please let me know; I'll review it and add if needed.

The next faction will be focused on the Rebellion.

Cheers!

What happens when a "hero" falls in the line of duty? Old game use to allow for them to respawn after a time penalty.

Also is it still possible to recruit additional heroes? As I seem to be missing Fishman, (not yet capture Mon Cal if he spawns after taking it?)

@ Fuzzy466: On both points to your question: yes and partial yes.
Faction crucial Heroes (i.e. Vader, Luke, Tyber Zann) will respawn after a time delay according to their current upgrade level (higher lvl = longer time). However some minor faction heroes are gone for good once destroyed. I haven't pinned down which ones do this yet, so be on the safe side.

Regarding recruiting: Planet, global tech-lvl, command station and shipyard are all prerequisites for recruiting heroes. For example: Admiral Peitt is recruitable at the start if you have Kuat, a lvl 3 shipyard and command station; then requires lvl 3 tech to upgrade to his next tier. However, the 181st Squadron spawns automatically at tech 2 over Corusaunt and can be fully upgraded at tech 3 and with a lvl 1 shipyard and command station.

I hope this answers your question. Please check out my guide listed at the top of the main discussion board and locate the "Imperial Heroes" tab.

Cheers!
