But that's kinda not like how I feel the game should be like you know...
Okay third configuration this one seemed to work, this is a 2 v 2 regiment battle against the empire and they had the same kind of stuff I did(except artillery) but you know heavies and med armored infantry
Group 1 is ALL infantry and transports, when given a move order they auto organize themselves, mortars are spaced out the transports are in the back line providing fire support with their lasers with the mortar teams among them and the medics are evenly spread out, same with the officers(of which I kept 3 in the transports and not in the engagement)
Group 2 is all tanks and artillery, I underestimated the range, they can fire from far behind, with artillery their rockets destroy infantry and support against vehicles, and the tanks focus on enemy vehicles, didn't give them specific orders unless there were some infantry nearby pushing too deep so I switched to the missiles meant for infantry and quickly took them out and then switched again.
AIMING: the units were disturbed by some enemy speeders before they got taken out and I noticed when a wave of enemy was coming in not everyone was shooting, you need to at least manually tell all units in group 1 to shoot an infantry unit and group 2 a vehicle, to get them to all aim in the general direction of the incoming enemy as a way to make them turn about face without disrupting the formation they had, idk a weird clunky issue but w.e. I think right clicking and the dragging to make them change their face direction would work but idk. I'll try later.
So essentially I just had them hold their formation, not attack move into the enemy formation, instead let them come to us, and keep infantry well mixed in front and vehicles at the back.
HEALING: the medic teams spread out constantly tried to keep everyone alive as if they were all: "so anyway, I started injecting" and that made a HUGE difference to prior engagements where I thought the range of the medics was larger and I kept them behind to keep them safe. So keep medics among the troops.

In that picture I had given an attack order to change the fire direction so some tanks moved forward, in the actual formation group 2 is farther back right behind a big square of group 1, but things got messy during the fight thus it looking disorganized in the pic, but the idea works.

Also, the MOMENT enemy vehicles enter an engagement, if you haven't learned what they are by memory yet, pause the game and hover over them, read their description, if it says anything about being really good anti-infantry or splash damage, IMMEDIATELY grab your anti-tank vehicles and only those and start focus firing those enemy vehicles, they WILL decimate your infantry at a rate your medics can't keep up with the healing, take them out and keep the rest of your army in auto fire.
If the enemy army has artilley, either bring your own to match range with range or wait for a bombing run before moving in to attack and use it to take out their artilley.
♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ something good came out of my ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Thanks for the invaluable information bro.
Yeah just make sure that while keeping the formation, you take into account the kinds of regiments you have, otherwise it will lead to mutual annihilation or near win but lost anyway because the regiments you had weren't the best counter to the enemies
The formation definitely works, and if you move do so a bit at a time forward, group 1 right click and then group 2 right click behind them, and letting them come to you, you're in formation while they come a bunch at a time or a column(better for you) and you just stop moving forward once you engage. But you have to watch out for flanking or getting surrounded, look at the enemy positions prior to entering the battle on the battle map in galactic campaign.
mixed regiments of med and heavy tanks, 2 of them
and 1 regiment of air units(2 a wings and an X-wing)
So basically, the idea above worked for a while but eventually, garrison buildings mixed with different types of regiments made it harder and harder, there were many losses, and I was losing hope...but then...Tech 3 arrived and with it the airborne:

And they saved the day

PS: the close up at the end of the video cause of the date, is cause Attila the Huns is about to arrive, guess that would be our equivalent of the Death Star
