Weird ring effect around the ship engines
So i am not sure why but there an odd effect where the ring effect that is suppose to be the ship engines are floating behind the ship, and are not connected to the engine. Anyone know how I can fix this weird effect.

I solved this problem by setting Shader Detail to max. You can find this option in Options->Video->Advanced.

The only reason it doesnt work is when people are playing without a graphics card. The game is from 2005 when the integrated graphics inside of a CPU were not able to run much of anything so it limited the Shader Detail settings.

If you are on a laptop that has a graphics card then the cause is Intel forcing the game to use the wrong one. Because of the game's age for some reason Intel Optimus (The program that tells the PC to use the iGPU inside the CPU or the proper GPU for power) chooses the wrong one.

What you need to do is force the use of the proper GPU via the NIVIDIA Control Panel or whatever the AMD equivalent is. No idea if the new Intel GPUs have something similar. You'll have to use some google-fu for your brand of GPU.
