Space, yes Golens are expensive... but well worth it. I had a fleet of TWENTY FIVE capital ships along with numerous others assault a lvl 3 station with Golen 3s, a orbital defense canon, and that one building on land that fires into space.

I won and still had a Golen 3 intact. Meaning both Golens survived THAT kind of fight. so think about it this way, a fleet costing upwards of 500K credits... failed to defeat a defensive position costing around 150K credits with 9 Ton Falks at 7K each. So under 250K... beat well over 500K. PLUS i got to keep my Golen 3s.

So while he needs another 350-450K to replace his lost ships, I only need around 80K to replace everything I lost, and I can build it back faster.


I realized that in this mod you CAN.NOT. beat the A.I in a series of battles with big hunky ships. even if there's no bonuses there's friggin 10 of them and 1 of you. You cant beat those credits and you can't beat that production.

So, what you do as Empire, is basically focus on your systems and secotrs. Kuat, Coruscant, Endor, and that one sector out to the east of the map. Build up your economy and defend the absolute heck out of them. DO.NOT.BUILD.STAR.DESTROYERS. at least not till you have a stronghold (A REAL stronghold. Not just temprary safety.) and focus on tech, defensive ships that don't cost anything for maintenence, and economy. Your economy and defenses should mainly be focused on your sectors. You can have like 4 or 5 upgraded planets and it wont give you as much as a sector will. If you're gonna defend a planet, make sure it's on a defensive position, and make sure you don't waste a fleet on it. It's not worth it. For planets only attack when there's few enemies there. They have to leave eventually. Only fight fights you can win unless its for YOUR sectors. If you do want to expand, try to take areas that wont upset your position, and hold them, but dont waste fleets for tiny little planets. And try to aim for enemy sectors as well as areas that limit the number of ways into your empire. take a select few planets at a time, and build them up. If you get a sector, BUILD IT UP IMMEDIATELY. You don't want to lose it, because the enemy will focus resources to hold it, and worse all those lost ships and credits wil have been for nothing.


This isn't to say don't protect your planets at all. But think of them as a side hustle while your sectors and systems are your full time job. If you have to spend some resources to keep up your hustle, great. But do NOT let it affect your main job. Also, because sectors and systems get golens, you can use them as buffers against the enemy. a planet makes an.. okayish buffer. just have a small fleet on it. But again, they do not matter when compared to your systems. Wether as a source of income, a defensive position, a buffer area, or anything else. I would say use Kuat as your ship factory and random hillbilly planet #5 as your land unit production.

As for how you should manage the LAND aspect of the game... moneys. money money money. unless you fully plan on using it as a buffer area, it should be focused on cash (AFTER you build up your systems/sectors). If you lose it big friggin whoop. A tax agency costs 1500 creds. whoopty doo. Take it back when the enemy leaves. Use it for cash, rinse, repeat. Imagine if a man has a gold mine plus a tree cutting business in the desert. sure you should have SOMETHING in that desert, but SAVE.DE.GOLDMINE.

You're free to build your fleets as needed. I highly reccommend fighter carriers and those small ships that kill enemy fighters. plus anything that destroys missiles. That's how I build my defensive fleets. My offensive fleets usually consist of a hero with a big ship, supported by lots of gladiator class cruisers and missile ships. plus anything that kills bombers.

For land units it's really just whatever you're good with. I like walkers and Tank regiments, some people like engineer units because of those OP mines, some people like speeders for lord knows what reason... but yea. Most dont cost maintenence, so.. do as you please. Use them for defense... use them primarily as assault armies like I do... use them as human/alien waves and just buy tons of cheap ones... it's all preference there.

SO. In order of Importance from most important to least.
1. Defense of systems/sectors
2. Money making from systems/sectors
3. Tech
4.Money making from planets
5. using spies to scout nearby planets
6. Expansion and taking weak planets.
7. Ensuring borders have as few entrances as possible
8. maintaining high pop and number of space units (lvl 3 space station then build the house thing that pops up)
9. Defense of Planets
10.Building super weapons

WILD CARD: Capital Ships and other ships that cost maintenence. It's always below 1 and 2, but honestly it can go anywhere else depending on the curcumstances. It's really just HOW BAD do you need a big expensive ship thats weak vs bombers and missiles but strong vs everything else? Are you SOOO CLOSE to getting a nearby system and you've scouted it and the planets next to it and everything? Well if your economy can take it, go ahead cowboy. You might need a few to take the hits or wipe out some pesky enemy corvetts and frigates. Do you think an enemy is coming in force with like 10 capital ships against a planet two spaces from your fully built up sector? Maybe wait a minute and build something more suited to doing direct damage to capitals, like bombers or fighter carriers. Is that system not as defended as you would like, but you have time, money, and already have lots of bombers, missile units, etc on that system? Go for it, you might need em to take some hits.
Its INCREADIBLY situational.
