You need to use the scripted Save function under 0-0-0. Doing that will create a savepoint. Next time you want to pick up where you left off, start WLA from your Scenarios menu. It will start a new game, but in the initial scripted set-up menu, you need to select Resume instead of New Game (or whatever it says). Using the vanilla Save & Exit does nothing now.
