And there are many positives of such tactic, instead of releasing it after many years, until it's complete. I've gotten tons of feedback over the years, and thanks to the fact that the mod existed in playable state for other players, they could take interest in it and join ship.
... what?
If you for a second believe this is on par with Black Mesa Blueshift you sir/madam, Is delusional.
The biggest problem is that to my understanding there is another mapper that did the first couple of map but you can clearly see a drastic change of quality at the later stages of the game. And the newer maps still have some smaller issues.
but then when i played, i found it very confusing that the game is clearly trying to show you killing scientists is bad (the guy speaking up in the plane, the platoon saying scientists surrendered without a fight and a few are still alive showing that platoon didnt entirely want to kill innocents, the guy calling out another marine for executing one) and never gives you the incentive as the player to be evil, while your teammates are basically just "oh, boss told us to kill people, guess we have to murder without complaint"
so im just really confused, if youre supposed to be evil why does the intro set itself up as a bad thing to do and that the marines clearly have a choice whether they will or not as not all of them are murdering onsight, and your teammates themselves seem undecided on the matter taking it as "just orders", only to require you murder scientists that would only help you??
if youre supposed to be playing as a more evil HECU marine, why not just show everybody as evil, rather than showing the moral conflict between marines but giving no choice yourself, why not make a reason to kill the scientists rather than keep them alive, even just the companions talking about killing the scientists or not before reaching them and reacting after its done would make it feel more fitting, i thought they were unsure so why are they shooting up the place the moment the see a guy in a labcoat, id think theyd at least hesitate and wait untill their de facto leader makes the call for them
