This isn't that game breaking of a problem, I would like the 50 unity boost, but this mod is awesome in every other aspect that I wouldn't drop it entirely just because of this. However, I did find the problem and a potential solution.
After some testing, I've come to find that the "modifier = { country_unity_produces_add = 50 }" line in unique_asciension_perks.txt doesn't seem to be working as intended even though it should be correct according to the Stellaris wiki modding documentation. Changing this to "modifier = { country_base_unity_produces_add = 50 }" does appear to let it work, although not 100% as intended (just close enough).
