Here's the mod: https://psteamcommunity.yuanyoumao.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1848028165
- The Datapad is actually controlled by the Genestealer player and should properly be packaged in their bag. Not a big deal.
- Would it be possible to change the bases on the models to square instead of circular? Again, not a big deal, but it would be a quality of life improvement for sure. As I'm sure you know, in Space Hulk facing is very important, and the model poses are often dynamic. A square base just makes this easier to keep their facings consistent and error-free.
1) I think the biggest reason why the datapad ended up with the space marines is because most of the people i know that play it, and the peeps i saw playing it on them youtubes almost always end up with the marines player holding the datapad. I think in some way its more intuitive that way? But I do believe you are correct. I would have to do another deep dive on the rules again when i have the time. But as you said, its not *that* big of a deal. I think in this situation there isnt really a correct place for it. I may just make a separate bag and put it among the marine and genestealer bags instead of in either of those, just to meet in the middle X'D
2) Unfortunately im not a modeler so i dont really have experience in changing the bases :/ Otherwise they would all be black X'D Or id have the original models uploaded P:
However regardless of the base, remember that the space marine is always facing the way his helm is facing, not his gun, or body. This is one of the few tidbits of the rules i can recall offhand XD
I do believe that if you lock your rotations to 90 degrees youll be able to always line up the helms, but.. its been a bit X'D If not, you can try 45 and that should get you where you want.
Also thank you for the suggestions and such. I know i may not be much help with these, but it does give me some insight on what people want, so while i may not be doing too much with it *now* its definitely being noted.
Both the datapad and the timer are meant to be controlled by the Genestealer player. At the beginning of the turn, the Space Marine player announces they're starting and draws their Command Point for the turn (this is supposed to be a blind draw from a pouch or similar, containing the Command Point tokens). If the Marine's Sergeant is still alive, they can re-draw the Command Point if they don't like what they got, but they have to keep the re-draw, even if it is worse than what they originally pulled.
Importantly: the Command Point value is secret information, known only to the Space Marine player. The Command Point token is handed to the Genestealer player facedown, where it is then placed on the uppermost track (numbered squares from 0 through 6). Each time the Space Marine player spends Command Points, the Genestealer player's job is to increment the tally by sliding the Command Point token so as to reflect the spend.
At the end of the Space Marine player's turn, the Command Point token is flipped over (by the Genestealer player) and the number on it is compared with the place it's located on the track. If the number of Command Points spent is equal or less than the value on the token, then the token is returned to the Space Marine player, who places it back in the Command Point pouch. If the number of Command Points spent by the Marine player was GREATER than the amount on the token, then the Space Marine player *immediately forfeits the game* and the Genestealer player has won. It's a big, big deal!
However, it's incumbent upon the *Genestealer* player to "keep the Marine player honest" by accurately tracking their Command Point spend (for clearing jams, extra movement, etc). If the Genestealer player forgets to debit the Space Marine player - oh well! Free CP for the Marine.
The Genestealer player is also responsible for tracking the ammunition expended by the Assault Cannon, and the Psi Points spent by the LIbrarian (if in play).
Basically, the Genestealer player has a lot to do during the Space Marine turn - just like the Space Marine has a lot to do on the Genestealer player's turn (all that overwatch, etc).
Hope it helps! I've been playing Space Hulk since the early 90s and it's my favorite boardgame of all time. Thank you for what you've done to bring it to TTS.
Though as i mentioned earlier, most of the players ive seen/talked with usually end up with the space marines handling the datapad. Though i dont think its a big deal because its still up to the gene-stealers to make sure the other player does what theyre supposed to. P: Thats why it ended up in the space marines bag instead. If i do end up moving it, itll probably be put into a neutral bag =w= That way people can decide on who they want to have the datapad =w=
Though i do have a question since you actually came back X'D
Have you had any issues with the gene-stealer models falling through the table? or.. well anything falling through the table due to missing colliders?
If you find a fix i'll see about implementing it.
Do let me know if you get any. I recently had to upload the collider to the steam cloud because they fell through the map for some reason. I still have no idea why. So im not sure if the fix worked or not, since no one came back ^^;;; So i assume it did. I hope it did X'D
On another note, I *am* tickling the idea of opening up a Space Hulk dedicated discord server. I dont know how used itll be for such a niche game thats already seen as a black sheep in the 40k fandom, so i dunno if itll be used or not. I figure itll be really useful to find other players though :3 and keep better track of bugs X'D
To be fair, there's a bit of controversy around the changes over the various editions, with 3rd/4th edition having some veterans feeling the balance that was carefully established in 1st edition has gone out the window. I don't necessarily share that opinion, but am aware that it's an area of some disagreement in the fandom. Mostly because, once again, it's an example of GW trying to fix something that wasn't broken.
Beyond that, it's honestly one of the best 40k games? Arguably much more fun than regular 40k, and far more affordable, too. But, I should admit I'm quite biased; I came into the 40k hobby due to Space Hulk, so take my opinions with a grain of salt!
