Starting a city
Setting up a city in the reborn update has been simplified there no more are the complex requirements or required resources to run the city only building counts matter now.

You of course need a town hall to start a city you can either build it in your inventory or with a plot builder table. upgrade requirements follow a simple path.

Level 1 the town hall is the base and does not have a cost the plots cost 20 to upgrade from an empty space to a building (Except for residents, warehouse, compliance and entertainment plot types)

Level 2 (wood) requires at least 1 of each plot all at thatch level plus 3550 city funds. Plot upgrades cost 40 city funds.

level 3 (Adobe) requires at least 2 of each plot all at wood level plus 4500 city funds. Plot upgrades cost 60 city funds.

(Current update plots don't affect each other or AI but will in a future update.)

The cycle system has also been removed and the city updates itself every 45 seconds.

Is there a vid for this mod?

I had that issue where the people would mostly end up in the water - so I had to build a wall around to keep them enclosed - I even added a few animals for them to "harvest", which they never did and only did so when I killed something and left it - the buildings have never evolved passed thatch stage - and I was so looking forward to see them evolve to higher levels - the people don't arm themselves with tools, don't pick plants, work at water wells, food building, mining etc. they just run around - so sad

Yeah NPCs aren't supposed to do all of that. they are just mindless decor and serve no real "use" to the values and numbers to the city. The only AI code on them is an old test wander function written by wildcard in the early days of Ark.

The citys should upgrade once you manually upgrade the town hall by going up to it with 300 water, food and minerals

300 water, food and minerals you can add into the tax box yourself? Or do you have to wait forever for it to spawn by itself? And do the npc's level up in outfits or can we outfit them ourselves?

I'm looking at adding a system to allow players to add item's to the city but aside from that the mod is mostly build for long play You could add more buildings to the city the city to further speed up the resources but you'l need to make sure the city resources are balanced. The NPCs outfits are coded up to change but No UI or implementation has been added yet as there are still plans to swap out the old wildcard wander function( the current code making them run in to the water) to better code that assigns them to a workplace and house. It will still use the background number system but the NPCs will look like they are working. I've been away for a couple months but am currently doing a bug build on the mod by fixing things like plot snaping and plot collision.

Hey Kiwiboys, this has the potential to make ark a decent single player game.
Are you still working on it?
Kiwiboys  [udvikler] 9. sep. 2020 kl. 21:27
@CupDuece Yes, recently I have been working on It almost every day after work. I have pretty much rewritten most of the mod and changed a lot of how it works but follows the same principles but with a similar approach.
