I really feel this change actually helps new players, as it is a nicer way to logically separate the main effect of a card from their special ability without cluttering their description, or without using too many keywords.
Players won't have to learn Legacy, Recall, or special keywords like Blood Destruction, Gate of Babylon, Pride etc...
I think both the badges and the fact that the secondary effect is never affected by upgrade will make remembering them much easier, so you won't have to check it more than a couple times.
But even if you would have to, having to right click seems to me a better solution than hovering the card and waiting for the tooltip to appear.
The badges are still not visible when glancing at the hand though, which makes them harder to use.
The secondary effect never being affected by upgrade is a nice touch!
