Seems like most of the buildings can't be placed down, because Nelson has basically abandoned this game, it's fallen to pieces and there are little annoyances everywhere (Such as makeshift vehicles having absurdly large hitboxes, generators not working with lights with certain angles etc.).
Due to a recent update which for some reason stopped you from placing any object no closer than 10 feet from you (exaggeration) it makes buildings impossible to place.
In other words, because you can't place objects inside of you anymore and since the buildings are so large, the game thinks you're placing objects inside of you, so no matter how you place a building, it will begin the placing animation, then just cut off. .n.
