Sometimes a gun will get a stuck mag (renders it useless) and the performance drops to 20fps (normal - 90fps).

Love the mod too but this has to be taken care off because it is deadly and gamebreaking..
It is true some mags get tagged as useless and u have to switch it by yourself with your mouse.
Other than that great mod.:)
Here's what helped me personally: I stashed all of my stuff away and let my character die.
After respawn, no framerate drops have occured.
Maybe the same procedure can help you too. It's not optimal, but it's DayZ we're talking about.
UPDATE: Yeah it's back.. and it's worse. Now working to isolating a possible mod conflict or something.
