Seems to me like it's based off of the Helghast helmet from Killzone.

Yeah i think so too. The first thing that came to my mind when i saw the thumbnail was those rebel soldiers from BN. The shape is almost identical.

This is based off of old Nazi WW2 Masks combined with helmets, the design is also probably a nod to Wolfenstein.
