You could add smoke to make it more realistic but make it an option too as it might be too much for some PC/laptops.

Vfire could have default white smoke but it reads the prop it is burning on, and you should make a list of things that makes the smoke black or different smoke colours.

All you will have to do is just make a list of things that make the smoke black and leave the rest to default.
