For the Britons, I was thinking generally lighter units with staying power than the Anglo-Saxons, but all of their units would be armed with 4 javelins at least and have an ability to allow them to increase their speed for a time then run away.

Basically wither the enemy down with javelins until the odds of melee success turn in the Briton's favour.

I could make all British units skirmishers, or just keep them as infantry.

I can imagine them being skirmishers would not be fun to play against, but then the AI would not use them currectly as infantry and would charge straight into the enemy without even using all their javelins.

Horses and Bows would be the speciality of the Britons.

Maybe give them a little Roman influence aswell unless you plan on having a Roman Britonic faction that would make them interesting to play as.

Quite interesting as I have been testing them a bit with them acting like skirmishers and having two javelins. The AI seems to throw javelins, run as the enemy approaches them, turn around and throw the second volley and go into the charge.

By that time even with lowered stats they often win against English levys.

You think you can re-add ambushes to the campaign map. That would add a bunch of flavour if only britons could use it.

I have added the British units. I am still unsure about them being skirmishers, so this may be subject to change. Feel free to test.

I think at this time, Britons are very similar to the Saxons. I think your idea of them being light skirmishers is based on newer stories much later after the Norman invasion, in the 7th century Britons would be armed very similarly to Angles and Saxons. Hardly any cavalry, everyone has a spear and a large round shield. axes and long knives as side arms and only the very wealthy had a sword. same with metal helmets and mail. only the wealthy...
