Frankly, This is an interesting argument you have here, but Buff Banner and Jarate were both original items that came with the game, not user-created. I'm not sure how limited people are in creating new items to define whether or not they can do this. You'd have to ask someone who makes items.
I like that secondary idea, perhaps he could pick it up and play on it for 10 seconds, and regen 5 metal per second when playing it. (For a total of 50 each time he plays) He would not be able to move or stop, much like the heavy eating his sandvitch, so he would be open to a
Lets face it, the engi could use a little love in the secondary and PDA slots, all he has for secondary is a pisol (or reskin) and a wrangler. And for PDA, well, just his PDA!
I really think my Secondary slot idea would be best for this, it has fair pros and cons to it, giving mobility and self defense for metal, so just think about it. Thanks! :D
What if Valve were to make the Beep Boy the first item that can be worn in more than one slot, i.e. PDA and Misc?
-Equipped as only a Misc, it would rest in the Engineer's pocket but not be the PDA used to select buildings.
-Equipped as both Misc and PDA, the Beep Boy provides stats, rests in the Engineer's pocket, and slides into and out of the Engineer's hands.
-Equipped as only a PDA, the Beep Boy provides stats and appears in the user's hand when selecting buildings, but does not rest in the Engineer's pocket.
