Suggestion: Submission
Beating every raid to a pulp should be more meaningful, what if the losing faction could be forced to pay a tithe (silver, food, goods, even slaves) to the victor?
Every victory pile up a general "fear rating" and a more specific fear from the specific village, until they accept their fate
Maybe even expanding the thing and forming own web of tributary villages, like a proto-feudal state

How to balance that? It will create a positive feedback loop which ends in you being all powerful. I don't know how that can be made interesting or challenging.

Don't get me wrong, I have power fantasies just like the next guy. I just don't have the vision to make it a fun game.

You're right
Well for example subjects could be disloyal and try to team up and overthrown you, or send spiked food
In the end might balances iteself because of increased colony value
