Range units are useless?
Range units seem useless, as far as I noticed.
At first, I played as different factions, sometimes reluctantly using crossbowmen, and I observed how the AI deployed them in battles. The most I saw was 60-70 kills from elite Genoese crossbowmen during a very long battle. With such low DPS, even against unshielded infantry, and especially against enemy archers, it seems impossible to justify (or pay off) a unit of archers even halfway. If my archers average 40 kills, I’m already happy.
There’s something off about archers in this game, or maybe it’s intentional.

I forgot to add—longbows also seem overly weak. The only real use I've found for them is to shoot fire arrows at cavalry or to lower the morale of enemy infantry that are on the verge of fleeing. I'm at least willing to allocate 1-2-3 slots in the army for them, but as for crossbowmen—it's a disgrace.
