You set the destination using the saved locations menu, activated via pullbar in most desktops, and via keypad in the mechanical desktop. Then you operate the space-time throttle and follow a series of misc objectives directing you to operate various controls. Get it right and you'll end up at your intended destination. Mess up and the TARDIS will crash somewhere in a few choice locations, which include but aren't limited to The Chill, in a river at the bottom of a waterfall, and Castle Dour dungeon.

if you mess it up you can get the tardis in a tardis paradox aswell... i learned this by neglecting to operate the helmic regulator
