I know this is like month old already so you probably figured it out by now, but if not, add me. I did some modifications for my server too and it worked by simply just adding it to the combinations, as far as I can remember.

Ah, thanks for your reply. I am not actually working on it (since I gave up), and I think the cause for my problem is that I can't use non-unicode text as the title of a combination. Have you touched on it?

Good point, I haven't tried that. The code uses the name of the materials/combinations as keys for lua table (which is quick and easy but generally really dreadful solution), so if lua doesn't allow for special characters to be used as keys, that might be the issue.

Hey, I have to know, where did you find the files to edit them? I've been trying to find a way to add custom crafting combinations to my Stranded, and there's no Stranded folders anywhere to be found other than the gamesaves.

You'll need to unpack the .gma file in addons (using something like GMad), then you can find and edit the files there.
