Have you made sure to move to Breezehome first? Because, if you move to any Hearthfires expansion home, you cannot move into Caslte Volkihar Redux mod. That because Hearthfires was never included in the file system for this mod. The work around is
1. Move to White Run into *Breezehome
2. Save the game
3. Boot up Skyrim
4. Save game again
5. Try using the "Multi Adoptions mod on Caslte Volkihar Redux Mod
(you will not be able to move into hearthfires home unless you repeat steps above)
If that doesn't work then do this:
(WARNING: this will delete anything you have stored inside Castle Volkihar Redux mod, and reset all the quests in the mod and start you from scratch brand new this mod like you never stepped foot in this mod before)
1. Move to Whiterun Breezehome
2. Save game and exit Skyrim
3. Disable Castle Volkihar redux in your mod load
4. Log back into Skyrim, try using adoption or marry serena mods.
still says this place is not suitable for my family when you said about the steps above did you mean the breezehome steps or the custom family home steps
