I did run into some issues where the mod would overwrite my own edited file and had to redo everything again. Then I decided the best bet was copy-paste a backup.
I have tested extensively i have yet to encounter a creature that the mod does not pick up specially with this method.
The only exception is while playing the game, the world-scan feature can stop working periodically, in that scenario it will not pick up (or have a hard time to pick and register) modded creatures, Core and DLC creatures are fine though. Might be a small limitation.
I do have to warn that some mods - For example, I enjoy to play with Rare Sightnings on my servers - the duplicationof the creatures happens on purpose it is supposed to be that way with that mod, that's not an issue, even if it is a nuisance.
What happens, in this scenario, is that Rare Sightnings creates a duplicated "Rare Variant" of the original creature. Both mods work great because Rare Sightnings also copies the Immersive Taming configurations allowing that "Rare Variant" to be tamed in the very same way has it's "Vanilla counterpart".
Although, my own perception of fixing your issue, would be to delete the .sav file and - following this guide - setting up everything from scratch. I understand it is annoying to do so, though that way you would have a clean .sav with no duplications ready to installed on your server.
If i was you i would try to know if there is a mod that is causing that, since I don't believe that it is a conflict.
My current plan when I get home is to grab my .sav file, and figure out if I can see which creature is which, and then track them in a spreadsheet to see if there really are unexpected dups. I do expect some in some cases - like for transform mounts - but not in others - like maybe spiders.
I'm also hoping to determine if we have any creatures left there from mods we've removed - if so, that frees up some space as well.
I can't currently get all the Extinction dinos in there, which is what sparked this. :)
a) the gacha do show up in the .sav file, but not in the journal.
b) removing the existing .sav file on a stopped server and having it restart just the extinction one and logging in doesn't seem to change what it knows about. It regenerated the previous file, or seems to have done.
It's possible that it's looking at my mods and servers and grabbing things that way, since I was on an extinction server and aberrant creatures shouldn't have shown up in a newly created sav file. I'm also wondering if it has another place to store what it knows about! (this seems possible even though your explanation above works - if the one you put in place knows about more stuff than the original one did, I can easily see it deciding to just add those)
Sadly, resetting the journal doesn't appear to wipe the creatures it knows about, so I couldn't try that, either. We may simply have too many creatures to add the new ones from the tamable corrupted dinos mod.
*Confused*
Like I said, I can only help based on what I understand about the mod and from the extensive testing that i did on my own. I am not the developer and if you are experiencing real issues, then you should report it in the proper forum page and have the patience to wait for an update.
Major Notes:
1) I did post a significant warning to not include bosses, minions or any other untameable creature, although if the journal includes them, just ignore them since they shouldn't be tameable either way.
2) This might be my bad, since I should have mentioned to not set extinction creatures as being immersive tames... even though it will work you should expect bugs and glitchs from doing such a thing.
- SPECIALLY immersively taming gachas, since they use a unique taming method! Which from my perspective it is a complete waste of time to configure them to begin with. Ignore them. -
3) Issues related to extinction are pretty common, it doesn't surprise me.
- You should be mindfull of the last date in which the mod was updated. It was before extinction launch and does correlate as to why you might have issues with native extinction creatures and the map to an extent.
- Although it is debatable since I managed to get it to work using my own method, it is best not to think to much about things and expect to run into issues.
4) If a creature doesn't show up in the journal, doesn't mean it can't be immersive tamed.
- If you still run into duplicated creatures, then it might be another mod that is doing that, although you can hide these entries from the journal.
- Using my own method, makes all creatures appear in the list and in the journal in any and all maps. This is completely intentional on my part and I achieved it so that I could make my server cluster equal in taming standards.
My main questions are:
Do you, actually, have any kind of issues taming the creatures?
- From my perspective that should be the real Issue. If you have encounter a similar issue, either you have a mod conflict or run into something that only the mod developer can adress it properly.
Is this only because of the duplication of said creatures that show up in the journal?
- I do not see that has a real Issue, only a minor inconvenience and nuisance, which should be ignored entirely.
Even though I did experienced the regeneration of the .sav file, if you use the codes from the mod to reset, in order to remove creatures entries, then that should do it.
It will not work if, You didn't do a proper dino wipe before hand and prevent the creatures from spawning in.
The mod loads creatures that it detects in the gameworld. If they are present when you force a reset it will merely reset their configurations, ONLY.
This is important, the mod will always scan and add creatures to the journal and list. this is an automatic feature. If you think there is something wrong, then perhaps is not about the mod in itself though rather how you have configurated your own server/singleplayer.
I can't help you more than this, I do warn before hand that I will not be accounted has responsable if you continue to encounter issues.
The mod is clean and stackable from my own experience, has not being updated in a while and it is only natural if some issue arises. That's why you should continue to track down your own issue, find your own solution and not rely on me.
I will recommend for you to run tests and play with only this mod loaded in singleplayer, or in your servers for you to learn how it works. Then load with any other mods, to pin point the issue.
No worries on not being held responsible - I never would have! I just thought you might know stuff I don't, since you dug into it in ways that I had not. And indeed, you did!
Thanks for your help and ideas. :)
Since I can see you're pretty chill and are looking for help feel free to add me, I wouldn't mind at all, as long as you understand my own limitations.
