it still would look weird on sand, gravel, wood, etc. i would add a litle snowflake particle to the skates. that way. it looks like the blades makes contact with snow instead of sand...

Yeah I was thinking of it having a magical ice or snow particle coming off of the skates, but there is currently no existing particle in TF2 that would be suitable. Valve usually makes unique particles and sounds if there is nothing fitting currently in the game so do not worry about that.

Might be better to make it rollerskates rather than ice ones. Then it makes sense that you can skate on every surface. Might be less classy, but it will be weird to see people ice skating on sand or concrete.
