I thought that it might be a cool idea too add the option to swap the sunlight damage for a debuff instead. Like disabling vampire powers during the daytime/sunlight exposure debuffing them (like reversing the pain modifiers and damage threshholds to increase their damge) and increasing the blood drain when they are exposed to sunlight.
This would also require that vampires lose their rest bar, or make changes to it so it won't just drop to almost zero at dawn/ fill up automatically at dusk.
With these debuffs, vampires can be used much more versatile while also maintaning some kind of balance as using them during day time, especially for tasks like hunting/ base defense would require the player to seriously consider wether it is actually worth it.
I don't know how much work it would be to impliment that but i would love to see that as an option when you start a new game, giving those who don't care that much about balancing a bit more leeway while those who want the game balanced, to keep it the way it is.
I don't know if you're still looking for a workaround, but I managed to do it with RIMMSqol - just edit the "sunlight exposure" hediff and set the Max Severity to something like 0.1.
I guess you could set it to 0 and see what happens, but I've never tried it since I like them having a slight debuff in the sun.
